Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games) [Hardcover] reviews:
- Fantastic!
I am motivated to put in writing a review for Catching hearth though i rarely feel compelled to do so. I scan lots of books in a very year. in all probability regarding 250 to 300 of them and, though I scan alternative costumer reviews, my very own reaction is usually not strong enough to compel me to put in writing my very own. NOT THIS TIME! I have to speak up for this book for the sole reason that it created such an overwhelming impression on me. there's no need on behalf of me to rehash the events within the book so i will be able to just offer my opinion.
I am a rational person and don't often become emotionally involved to an excellent extent. If I invested to a lot of in fictional character's lives i would have quite a roller-coaster to wear down. I bawl over once throughout this book. The book isn't overly poignant and not particularly sentimental in comparison to alternative books in their treatment of the horrors that the characters face however it is so well written that you are none the less sucked into an empathetic perspective that lasts throughout the book. the topic matter that's addressed in Hunger Games and Catching hearth is nothing new however the writing is so high caliber that it reinvigorates the dystopian landscape. I have asked myself, despite the excellent writing, why i used to be so affected. I have to admit that the themes have continually been appealing to me however, even so, my response is out of character. the only answer I have is that I recognize the potential it has to achieve out and possibly cut through the somnabulistic state that we have a tendency to as a culture realize ourselves in and..... I found it within the young adult section!!! I hope that each teenager reads this book as a result of 1984, Fahrenheit 451 and Brave New World just won't have an equivalent impact with them as this book will. Collin's writing style and pacing keep your attention to the end. I didn't assume it would be possible to put in writing a second book that had an equivalent gripping suspense as the initial however she did it and in doing so may be able to create alittle dent within the apathy of stripling life and also the minds of jaded adults.
Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games) [Hardcover] Description:
Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.
Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games) [Hardcover] Editorial reviews:
Starred Review. Gr 7 Up--Every year in Panem, the dystopic nation that exists where the U.S. used to be, the Capitol holds a televised tournament in which two teen "tributes" from each of the surrounding districts fight a gruesome battle to the death. In The Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the tributes from impoverished District Twelve, thwarted the Gamemakers, forcing them to let both teens survive. In this rabidly anticipated sequel, Katniss, again the narrator, returns home to find herself more the center of attention than ever. The sinister President Snow surprises her with a visit, and Katniss’s fear when Snow meets with her alone is both palpable and justified. Catching Fire is divided into three parts: Katniss and Peeta’s mandatory Victory Tour through the districts, preparations for the 75th Annual Hunger Games, and a truncated version of the Games themselves. Slower paced than its predecessor, this sequel explores the nation of Panem: its power structure, rumors of a secret district, and a spreading rebellion, ignited by Katniss and Peeta’s subversive victory. Katniss also deepens as a character. Though initially bewildered by the attention paid to her, she comes almost to embrace her status as the rebels’ symbolic leader. Though more of the story takes place outside the arena than within, this sequel has enough action to please Hunger Games fans and leaves enough questions tantalizingly unanswered for readers to be desperate for the next installment.
